Holiday Accountability

I'm writing this on day 3 of my 2024 summer holiday and actually having a really nice time away. I was so nervous about going abroad with the 3 kids but so far so good, even with a flight delay on the way out.

2 days after arriving home I am bridesmaid at one of my best friend's weddings. We have been friends since we were 2 years old, growing up living next door to each other. It's going to be a really special day and I'll be honest Jenny is so laid back that I could show  up in a black sack and she wouldn't mind....BUT there is the newly taken in bridesmaid dress to consider so I am trying to do some small things while away to ensure I feel great on the day.

  • I'm eating a high protein and fibre breakfast each morning before I have a delicious pastry for my mid morning snack.

  • I'm staying hydrated and not drinking alcohol everyday.

  • I'm training in the gym here every second day and really enjoying the session and time out with my hubby who is training with me.

  • Eating lots of fruit and enjoying some small treats here and there but I'll be honest .... they don't do biscuits etc as well as they do back home so they are not that appealing to me.

  • Eating meat or fish for my evening meal with a side of salad or veggies and some chips. I had a chicken and veg paella last night and it was sensational.

  • Walking to the shops, playing with the kids and just being active as well as relaxing reading my book in the sun... BTW ..... IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER???!!!...I think not!!!

Holidays for me is just like everyday, I try to find balance and focus on ADDING IN the 'good stuff' and if I want some of the 'bad stuff' ( I feel icky even using those terms but I hope you know what I mean).

I enjoy my food, drinks and movement and continue as normal with an extra ice-cream or glass of vino here and there.

There is no restriction, just mindfulness and consideration in weighing up my options.

It is also important to remember too that if the above sounds like living hell to you than that is NOT how you should do YOUR holiday.

We are all adults, we all have to make the right decisions for us and our situation, especially on our well earned vacation. This is just how I like to holiday.

PS: Wear the shorts, wear the bikini everyone is too busy worrying about themselves than to be looking and you AND if they are not.....let them look 💃 Walk tall and with confidence.
