The Truth About Weightloss
How to lose weight and keep it off is the key. There is zero benefit in losing 5kg only to gain it right back.
So how do you actually make that happen?
Here are a few weight loss truths to help you really understand what it takes:
1: This is not a phase or a quick transformation
Losing weight and keeping it off is a lifelong commitment to keep showing up for your health. This is why I am so focused on habits, education and mindset in Empowered Movement.
It is not a case of 'quitting' when you reach your destination.
2: When you are in a calorie deficit you will be hungry
But you won't starve. I encourage my clients to choose high protein, high fibre, high volume foods to help with their appetite but there is still going to be an element of hunger and cravings.
3: The scales will fluctuate
So many fitness influencers are demonstrating this at the moment by doing daily weigh-ins on their own 'weight loss phase' or 'cut' . I'm not sure if I love the messaging of these posting these daily weigh-ins but it does clearly show that weight will go up and down depending on being in a calorie deficit or surplus, carb and salt content in food (holds water), menstrual cycle, activity levels and hydration levels.
4: In complete contradiction to the above.... The scales is also a useful tool
Yes, day to day or week to week it can go up and down. But the overall trend across months will show you how the choices you are making is effecting your fat loss journey. It should be moving in a downward trend if you are reducing your body fat.
5: Most of us know what to do
We just don't have the system in place to be able to focus, start and continually show up for ourselves. That is why people have so much success using our challenges as a kick start program.
