What a Difference 2 Months Makes - Habit Building
I want to chat a little more about habits and in particular building good habits. After all that is what we have been doing over the course of the last few months with our training. Putting a system in place to implement a new healthy habit.
When it comes to my health and fitness I like to keep things simple. This will always make building your new habit easier and lets be honest everything easier.
Pick Small Habits
This is the precise reason my workouts on the main page (I know the weekly lives are a little longer) to 20-30 minutes. It's not a huge amount of your day, you can do it form home and therefore no commute, for most it is doable. I also try to keep my videos direct and email responses as short as possible and to the point. Small info bites that are easy to process.
If you are starting out or having an 'off week' and don't have 20 mins.... do 10 minutes.... from a mindset point of view this is extremely effective.
Increase the Habit in Small Ways
When the initial habit is ingrained build on it. Add a little bit more time or an extra round for example.
Along the way your willpower and motivation will increase too. . . is this sounding familiar??? ;)
We are not just flexing our physical muscles with progressive overload we are exercising our willpower and this is something that absolutely needs to be trained.
Be Patient
The most critical skill of all. As humans of the 21st century, we want everything and we want it right now.
Well when it comes to health and fitness that is just not possible so you have to wait, keep showing up and the results WILL COME but maybe not right now. 'We are what we repeatedly do' so if you keep finding balance, keep training and keep eating well you will become a fitter, smaller, healthier and I believe a happier individual.
For the Challengers Reading This
Start to think about what you want to do next? What is your next system?
It's 5.45am here. The house is still asleep so I'm off to do 20 minutes of training before the madness commences.
What are you going to do today to flex your habit muscle?
